From December 5 to December 6, 2020, the 19th ChinaSys Workshop was held in Chongqing. Wen Xia, associate professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, won the 2020 ACM ChinaSys Rising Star Award.
Founded in 2011, ACM China SIGOPS, also ACM ChinaSys, is an academic group in the field of computer systems and related topics in China, aiming to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners associated with computer systems to share, communicate and jointly facilitate the development of computer system in China. The ACM ChinaSys Rising Star Award is established by ACM China SIGOPS to recognize outstanding young academic researchers in China's computer systems and related fields. Associate Professor Wen Xia from the School of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) and Associate Research Fellow Du Zidong from the Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences won the 2020 ACM ChinaSys Rising Star Award. The Chairman of ChinaSys Prof. Haibo Chen from Shanghai Jiao Tong University presented the awards to the two laureates.
Associate Professor Wen Xia has devoted himself to storage system research for a long time and has demonstrated outstanding excellence in research. He has presided over (or completed) two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, more than ten other provincial and ministerial projects, and industrial projects. He has published more than 40 papers in the field of computer systems and has held 18 authorized patents. He has been honored with the first prize of the Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award, Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the Pearl River Talent of Guangdong Province, the Young Top Talent of Harbin Institute of Technology, etc. He has made extensive cooperation with companies such as Huawei, Tencent, ZTE, EMC, and NEC, and his research achievements have been adopted by many open-source projects such as rdedup, Content Blockchain, SZ, etc.
