On November 6, the executive committee meeting of Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing (AFNLP) announced the 2019-2021 executive committee list. Professor Ruifeng Xu from the School of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) was elected as the executive committee Member, and serves as the chairman of the Asian Language Resources Committee, responsible for organizing the construction and promotion of Asian natural language resources, and promoting the development of Asian natural language processing in academic field and industry.
AFNLP was established in 2000. It is an authoritative academic organization in the field of natural language processing in Asia. It is committed to strengthening academic research and cooperation in the field of natural language processing and computational linguistics in Asia, promoting information and resource sharing, and promoting exchanges and development between the Asia-Pacific region and the international academic community in this field. The official members of AFNLP are professional associations, research institutions, or universities in the countries or regions of the region, and assume corresponding responsibilities on behalf of the researchers in the countries or regions.
The current executive committee is chaired by researcher Chengqing Zong from the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. 10 scholars and researchers, from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, India and other countries and regions, serve as members of the Executive Committee. Professor Ruifeng Xu is the only executive committee member from mainland China and one of the two committee chairmen of the society. (Editor Xi Chang)
